I noted a WCSP making a short crisp call. This is not the most common call I hear them make, so I quickly recorded it. This is a short crisp call at 5-6k. It reminded me of the CA Towhee call, which is a similar duration at a similar frequency. I did get visual ID on this bird, and it was a WCSP. This is lower in frequency than the WCSP calls I normally hear, which are at 7k and ascend upward. For comparison, the most common WCSP call I hear here is in this list: https://ebird.org/checklist/S97499915 And for good measure, this is the CA Towhee call: https://ebird.org/checklist/S95854374 That towhee call is **very** similar, being right at the same pitch register. It's just a little clearer in pitch, hitting really only those frequencies at 5-6k...whereas the WCSP call is extending further above and below that.
