The yellow of this bird attracted my attention when it landed on an angled anchor wire on the telephone pole across the road from me just as we arrived at the house and were backing into the driveway. With a quick look through my bins, I assumed it was a Western Kingbird because I have seen them in different uncommon areas before, such as the Sunshine Coast. Eager to get a photo, I began to follow the bird with my camera. It was very flighty and took off every time I got the sun behind me for a good photo. Bird was flying from telephone wire to telephone wire, observed for approx. 3 minutes flying around on the end of 41st Street, in the Rodeo Subdivision, Chetwynd, just near the grassy fields, ball field and Equestrian centre (lots of open space nearby).. Couldn't get a good photo ... but have attached what I did get. Feedback has led me to believe that this is a Tropical Kingbird. In response to questions I was asked .. I have included the only other picture I have, and no, I did not hear it vocalizing.
