Bird first found on Sunday 3/28 on the dump trail. Suspected V. a. barbatulus ssp.
פרטי השורה
I refound the first bird at 1035, after spending 45 minutes patrolling its known location on the dump trail. Captured poor photos, but appears to be the southern Florida subspecies with richer coloration. Near the end of the day, I found a second bird in a mixed flock at 1350 at Battery Langdon. Even poorer photos, I believe this bird to be of the vagrant Caribbean subspecies, showing a very drab brown color throughout, and an indistinct pale eyebrow. I can attach photos to see what others think. Both birds superficially identical to red-eyed vireo with dark cap, reddish iris, pale supercilium, stout hooked vireo bill; but with the black malar stripes (whiskers) being the obvious feature to set them apart. Edit: after going through photos, I'm leaning towards both birds being of the Florida subspecies. Langdon bird did appear quite drab/brown in the field though.
