Continuing. Found back on 21 Dec by Rebecca Marschall and confirmed on 07 Jan by Kimball Garrett. Rusty flanks, bluish tail and rump, white vent and throat, greenish vest, pale eye ring, large black eyes, dainty looking bill. Very stealthy. Hid in hedges most of the time but went up into trees occasionally at about mid-story. May observe it at base of hedges briefly. Flys direct from point to point, low to ground or from tree to tree, with a thrush-like swerve onto new perch. Heard it vocalize just once, no whistles, but a series of quiet grunt-like calls, perhaps agitated calls (see Xeno Canto at https://www.xeno-canto.org/190266.) Saw this bird north side pathway of the U first, then in trees around U, then in thin hedges near huge Magnolia, vocalized in large Ficus(?) between Magnolia and U pathway, lastly in hedge alleyway where a fallen bird feeder lays on the ground (blue base and clear top). The people who operate the library and its grounds were amazingly tolerant and patient with the hordes of birders. Thank you! Hard to shoot, but some good photographers there managed some enviable, sharp pics (as I saw on the back of their camera).
