The Glossy Ibis was among a flock of White-faced Ibis so great comparison. The deep, ruby red eyes and reddish facial skin were noticeable on the WFIB. This bird stood out because it's eyes were dark, not red, the facial skin was dark, not reddish, and the borders of the facial skin were cleanly marked by a pale bluish-white, not clean white, line. None of the WFIB were showing such a well demarcated border to the facial skin. The legs on this individual were all dark, showing no reddish tones. ***********NOTES BELOW ADDED AFTER REVIEWING REFERENCES******************** The pale bluish-white border to the facial skin reached the eye but did not wrap around the eye. Clearly visible in the photos, you can see the mottled maroon feathering in the back and breast. This bird was actively molting from breeding to non-breeding plumage indicating it was not a juvenile. I am unfamiliar with separating SY from ASY birds. I am aware that Plegadis Ibis hybridize and that possibility was considered in the field but no field marks hinting at WFIB parentage were noticed.
