Commentaires
These are the typical array of sounds attendant to the construction of a nest colony, with most birds swimming around and gathering plant matter to build platforms, some minor skirmishes related to competition for resources and other birds swimming around issuing 'songs' in attempts to initiate mating. Incipient colony was about 50ft away and there were approximately 40 birds present. Also probably a few Silvery Grebe calls mixed in there as they were part of the colony as well (in the background around the 1 minute mark, Silvery Grebes can be heard for 5-10s), but they tend to not be as vocal so the overwhelming majority of the vocalizations heard are Hooded Grebes.
Détails de l'observation
