Détails de l'observation
At first presumed to be Blue-headed Vireo in the field. Determined to be Plumbeous Vireo (rare in this area) based on large bill, lack of distinction between feathering of head and body, lack of blue on the head and lack of bright yellow flanks. Cassin's was ruled out due to lack of dull yellow flanks. The bird was last seen in flying up the DuPage River in Knoch Knolls Park towards the confluence of the east and west forks of the river. I have no expectation that it would still be in the area as it was moving around a lot and when it left, I did not see it land. Accepted and recorded as a first state record by the Illinois Ornithological Records Committee (IORC) in July, 2018. [EDIT: Since that time, I have learned that another birder subsequently submitted an accepted report from almost 28 years ago, without photographs.]
