Commentaires
This shows the accumulation of serotinous lodgepole pine cones along a branch. They turn gray as they weather. Crossbills generally forage for seeds in gray cones because over time some of the scales begin to separate providing easier access to the seeds. This photograph was taken on 4 June 2017.
