Détails de l'observation
Medium-sized hawk with reddish head, orange-red barring on chest, brown mantle, and black tail with white bands. I had been looking for the RLHA (alas, no luck today) and was on my way home when I noticed five crows arranged in two trees, clicking and rattling and making other weird crow sounds. I figured something must've attracted their attention so I pulled over; this bird was in a tree close to the crows and adjacent to the Methodist church near Hwy 9. It flew across the street onto a utility pole, posed for several photos, and then headed back north into the woods. I was rather pleased with myself for having found it, but learned upon arriving home that Dan N. had already "discovered" it three hours earlier.
