Détails de l'observation
A juvenile Ross's Gull was discovered by visitors to Herschel Island-Qikiqtaruk and pointed out to Helmut Grünberg who was also visiting the island. Helmut identified the bird as a juvenile Ross's Gull, and photos were obtained by George Higgins. It was present at Pauline Cove 21-25 July 1991. The timing of this juvenile Ross's Gull was months earlier than the species' regular fall passage at Point Barrow, Alaska, and thus suggestive of local breeding. In flight, the juvenile shows a wedge-shaped tail with black tips on the central tail feathers. REFERENCE: Sinclair, P. H., W. A. Nixon, C. D. Eckert, and N. L. Hughes (Eds). 2003.
