White-winged Scoter
Détails de l'observation
This bird was reported on 19 November 2017 late in the day by Dave Webb, Chrissy McClarren and Andy Reago in the same area I was able to find it today. Blackish duck with a visible white wing patches; cheeks each had a white patch and one white patch was on each side of the long bill. The bill also had some orange color visible on the tip of the bill. It plopped when it dove, that is it leaped up from the water surface and dove head first into the water. Its wing were extended as it dove, another character of surf and white-winged scoters and over seaduck divers is they use there wings in a rowing motion as they navigate under water, unlike the dabblers.
