Détails de l'observation
Spied a large white marked hawk on the ground some distance away over a berm and went marching quickly in the general direction it disappeared walking behind a large tumbleweed. It then took flight flushed by a dog walker and circled, sometimes hovering like a giant kestrel, and then circled at low elevation over to a snaggy eucalyptus in the center of the dog run area at south end of Fiesta Island. It is a large very attractive looking hawk, milky and buffy white on the underparts with odd dark spots and arrows, large pale eye, fine brown streaked head, long yellow gape beneath eye. Amazing upperparts coloration without rust red but instead with dark stone brown back and wings, darker subterminal banding on the flight feathers, and large milky white rump extending in pale coloration down the tail the end more colorfully marked. Pale whitish windows in the primaries. Very eye catching hawk - wow, wow, WOW! Got some amazing photos at close range.
