Détails de l'observation
I thought this might have been a female surf scoter. Distant to the south beyond the Ruddies seeming dark overall and larger. I watched it for a while unable to discern any contrasting markings. It did seem quite large in the distance and with a low body profile and heavier bill. Eventually it took off southeastward and in flight it seemed hefty and dark overall. Did not see any white on wings. Thanks to Julien A for explaining why it is probably a female greater scaup. Photos reveal some white/light mark on face that was not visible with binos. Given how poor the photos are I felt it best to leave it as duck sp.
