Shaping up to be a major invasion year. Had one this morning also at private property in Putnam County. Both are my first ever for August. Have been a few other earlier sightings this past week in MO. From Robbins' Birds of Missouri (2020): Fall: During years when there is a major influx into the state (every 2-3 years) the first individuals are observed as early as late Aug. In non-irruptive years, birds are typically not seen until mid-to late Sep.
