I’m m not complaining about seeing this owl and the Black Scoter earlier this month in 80° temps in Pima Co, but it just feels so wrong. Cutest little round faced owl continues from spectacular find perched in a eucalyptus tree this morning. Kept shifting position on perch with frequent preening. Didn’t see any gular flapping/panting (I’ve seen SNOWs do that, so guessing Saw-whets can, too), but the way he kept shifting his position out of the sun made me wonder if he was hot. Photos of cute little-little with streaky forehead and warm reddish - brown streaks on belly (vs spotted forehead and splotchy belly on Boreal).
