This dirty dark thug came floating over from the north side of the construction area where the larger gulls tend to hang out more to the southeast side where the Little and Bonaparte's gulls are amassing. He may have been there all along, but I didn't see him for the first couple hours of my visit. Third winter, I think. Thick black and yellow bill; smudgy dark plumage around the pale eye; mantle and wings darker than anything else out there. Bryant O. had spied another one far out and possibly younger, but I was too chicken to call that ID due to the distance and so it was swell when this thugster came floating my way.
