Found by Nancy Salem. The bird was seen foraging in a carob tree on the east side of the park. Bright yellow base color, black feathering on the crown and through the eye, and heavy blackish streaking below all suggested a first-year male. Call, heard once, a sharp sweet chip. Photos.
