Détails de l'observation
They're back! We have been checking the lagoon for the last 2 weeks - and finally today we heard the male calling from the same reed beds as last year. It was then seen flying between these reed beds. We then enjoyed long extended views of the male preening and calling (55 minutes). Both of us managed to shoot a few wonky videos of him crouching, slightly lifting his wings, then inflating and deflating his neck whilst calling, as well. Hopefully more successful outcome for them than last year when we assume a nearby Rakali preyed on their young. If you click fast enough through the sequenced photographs - you can see the birds throat inflate and deflate as he calls.
