*rare. Vesper Ave castor aralia and surrounding trees. Yellow tanager, large bill, no wingbars, some orange below including rather orange undertail. Originally posted as SCTA; changing to SUTA after discussion on discord--thanks Cliff, Lily, Andy, and Marshall! When Dawn, Liz, & I were looking at this bird, I kept remarking on how orange it was below (but I've seen orange SCTAs). Then I noticed that the bill looked very large and suggested the remote possibility of a Summer. We rapidly tried to figure out some additional field marks (I've never seen a non-adult-M SUTA) but couldn't see lores well enough and weren't sure about the wings or the color of the end of the tail. As usual, I spent most of the time rationalizing the more common bird. Thanks to Dawn for finding the bird (yesterday?), relocating it for us, and sharing pics for discussion! (Dawn has much better pics than mine). Beautiful bird.
