Détails de l'observation

(Rare): “unreported” 🍅 : Seen well. Photo and recording. Vireo with bright yellow underside, yellow on utc, no darker hood (as BHVI would have), and saw the white around/of eye. Bright white wing bars dark between the wingbars like RCKI. White around vent. Whitish throat. Sort of like a paling shades of gray hood except for splash of yellow at forehead (and spectacle). Striking yellow and greenish yellow color of almost entire bird combined with face pattern were diagnostic. — — Caleb spotted it 1:13p atop eastern redcedar ~ (40.81632, -72.57718), ID by Courtney based on initial views, nice duo effort! seen for 6-7 minutes through bins from boardwalk , no scope with us then. It moved a few times slowly through top of tree then sat at least a full minute, still, semi shaded and mostly facing away. Faced towards us briefly. It then flew down and back out of sight, we were sure prob must be WEVI. Caleb ran for the scope from car, then when got back played one song tape, just to see if we could get it to pop out and confirm ID absolutely and document it. It did fly in immediately to the song, into bare alder buckthorn shrubs under sumac (40.81628, -72.57709). We stopped tape and waited and a minute later it started scolding, recorded. Beautiful views! Have never seen one so well before, this is only our 3rd one encountered ever. Gorgeous.
