Lifer! First observed by Declan Murphy shortly before. Juvi. Pointed out by birders already there. More contrasting facial markings like dunlin (similar to whimbrel), long dark bill with drooping end and long yellowish legs, longer than redshanks, perhaps comparable to greenshank. Less brown compared to juvi dunlins about too. Back light and dark grey scaly, some of the more dorsal feathers with distinct arrow shapes in the middle. Had a similar habit to curlews or godwits, probing deep into mud. Slightly smaller than redshank, more lithe and slim. Flushed by juvi Peregrine that dived at it, flying up N, turning around, and flying high southwards..
