Détails de l'observation
Identifying Empidonax flycatchers can be a challenge, especially when five different empids have been confirmed in the local area over the past few days. That was my case with the bird in the attached photo. The very pronounced olive-green color on the back; the complete eye ring; the long bill length; the long primary projection; and the shape of the head all point to ACFL. Additionally, at least three ACFLs were heard vocalizing in the park during the course of the morning (though the bird here was quiet when this photo was taken). The yellow hue seen on the throat (which is a bit more evident in the original photo) led me to seriously consider and to initially report YBFL; but, in the end, there were not enough other expected indicators to sustain a case for YBFL.
