NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 13. Bulk reel: 143 Weather: Cloudy, fair. a) This bird had not been singing. I played the field tape loop and bird came right up and started to sing. (Recorded at low gain due to print-through danger; a slight amount still occurred.) Quality: 1. Level: +5. 203 tape. 7:45 AM. This recording is continued briefly on 175 tape. Quality: 1. Level: +3. b) Now after playback of last part recorded in a). Quality: 1. Level: +3, 0, +3. 175 tape. Note re: Cuts 12 & 13) During the operations at the camp it is again indicated, practically beyond any doubt, that the calls of Cuts 5, 6, 9, & 11 are of this species. Further it seemed almost certain that both sexes of a pair sing (from quite reasonable circumstantial evidence), a probable fact that seemed indicated from where I netted the pair on Zumbador. Response to playback: Approach.
