Détails de l'observation
We first heard a shorebird call that was unfamiliar to us and then saw this elongated elegant shorebird fly over the lake and land in the parking lot near the lake. It walked to the grassy edge of the parking lot and took off again. After another pass over the lake it landed in the grass amongst the Canada Geese. It then flew a third time over the lake, every time while calling, and landed for a third time, again on the parking lot and quite near to us. It finally flew off towards the south west. All of this within a span of about 5 minutes. Beautiful mid-size shorebird with yellow-green legs. Relatively small head, long neck, shorter bill than Yellowlegs with a dark tip. It called frequently with a fast three note liquid call. Only the third time that we ever saw this species. It made our day.
