Détails de l'observation
as Remi and I were heading north (towards home) across the field north of the Liddell Lab pond, I thought I heard a GRSP song. the song was faint, and with the strong wind, I wondered if I was mishearing a Savannah. but it continued singing, it always sounded like GRSP, and a Merlin recording (attached) confirmed this. Remi and I headed back south a bit, closer to the source, but I never was able to spot this bird singing. eventually I did some playback, after which the bird seemed to move closer (second, longer recording), but still scarcely seen. eventually I twiced glimpsed what I think was this bird as it was sneaking towards me through the grass during playback of song, but I never got a clear look at it. the site was east of the south end of Warren Woods, in the middle of the field, at ca 42.462510, -76.447341. this is the first singing GRSP I've found in Tompkins County, and the closest GRSP yet to home (only 0.4 miles to the southeast!).
