Détails de l'observation
Black head going down into the upper chest; black also extended half way down the back. Black on top and under tail and black wings with white wingbar. No rust or orange in the scapula area. Orange upper chest and yellow-orange on mid and lower underside including vent. Yellow-orange on lower back and base of tail. Long thin black bill. In the back of bird photos, it had been preening so a bit disheveled. Watched it call (audio attached and have a video of it making that same call which Merlin never identified as Hooded or anything else). Photos from different angles. Since it was never next to another bird, I couldn’t determine how it compared to the Hooded. There was a Hooded Oriole pair in the area so audio of the rattling calls was hard to determine which bird was making them. Observed it near the large oaks across from the bat boxes and near the creek (a bench is close). If it is an Orchard x Hooded hybrid, it seems to have more Orchard qualities. If it hangs around, it will be interesting to see if it continues to change color.
