Poor quality cell phone recording. You can hear someone running by in the recording. I was also out of breath after a steep climb to approach the bird.
Détails de l'observation
Singing. Close to the top of the park and about 50' up a eucalyptus. Splotchy red and yellow bird. Sweet Robin-like song but less flute-like. 33.960126,-117.978524: but phone says GPS accuracy low. Should have a recording to upload. Never called. Amazingly, while I was watching the first one, a second bird flew into the same tree. Both visible at the same time in the same tree. Both splotchy red and yellow birds: both look like first year males to me. Very similar plumage. The first bird sang a lot and stayed mostly motionless between song bouts. Moved between three different perches while I observed it and sat and occasionally would sing. The other bird was very active foraging for large flying insects (I think paropsine leaf beetles, but really too far distant to be sure).
