Détails de l'observation
On the second lap down N Preachers Road this morning immediately stopped and turned off the car when I spotted this bird on the side of the dirt road around 15 yards ahead, and the grouse did not flush but stayed at the roadside. Was able to study the bird for some minutes with great binocular views from about 30-40 feet away until it trotted across the road, paused at the road edge, and then slowly proceeded off of the road at 46.6287073, -85.1262552 at 8:06. - - - Male, smallish very dark and black grouse with short tail, and some white feather tips, spots and bars, and with red red eye (superciliary) combs seen well at the close range in the 8.5x42s. Terrible phone only (9x optical digital combo zoom) video screen captures shot through a windshield much needing to be cleaned for the second time today (should have thought of shooting phonebinoed video at up to 76.5x, for 8.5x42mm x9, but didn’t).
