Détails de l'observation
The bird was spotted incidentally. I was actually going out to see yelkouan shearwater. From inside the Harem-Sirkeci ferry I saw a group of more than at least 50 common seagulls circling. At that particular spot it's not common. After a few minutes I noticed a crow below them. It seemed they were following the crows lead to attack something. Knowing that crows often harass hawks I looked for one but instead spotted the booby. When I first saw it, it was going away from me so I only saw the wing shape and brown color. Later it turned and I saw its distinctive beak. I took several videos but I was disappointed with quality. I was going to go down from the top deck of the ferry to get closer when the seagulls chased it away and I lost sight of it behind a ship. Later I saw them moving in the direction of Haydarpaşa
