Two Barred Owls were recorded from the lakeside trees. The pitch and quality of the notes, 34 vs 37 seconds may suggest a male and a female.
Détails de l'observation
Barred Owl was recorded as it sang from the nearby trees of the south woodlot (recording 1). It the flew to the west with several intermittent call notes were heard as it moved away. Two or three minutes later, a Barred Owl was heard calling (recording 2) from about 100 meters to the east of where it sang in recording one. Then, minutes later, two Barred Owl were heard from the same area (recording 3), each with seemingly different tones and pitch of their call notes (The notes at 34 seconds seem to ascend in pitch on the very last note, vs the last note on the series at 37 seconds). There was a brief episode of " caterwauling," (at 3:20 minutes) which was interrupted by highway traffic (trimmed out), then only a few call notes were heard. Then silence.
