The three minus the second from the left were substantially smaller, narrower, and shorter necked than the migrant canadensis group CANG around. To me extremely suggestive of hybrids. Sadly this shot does the least justice to their size and coloration.
Détails de l'observation
Truly baffling birds that make me strongly consider CACG X CANG. Could be smaller. Small size geese altogether, brown overall not different from brown on back of CANG around, not silver/tan of typical Richardsons, short necked, smaller bulls but more elongate than I typically see on Richardsons, cheek patch wider than a Lesser which typically have narrower cheek patch adjacent to cheek, Lesser typically more longer skinnier bill and typically a darker breast than these birds, wings with narrow and sharply pointed more like a CACG, legs very narrow compared to CANG around, structurally the breast and back much plumper and lumpy more so than smoother back and breasted CACG. Would love to go back and get better shots of these.
