Détails de l'observation
I noted a lighter meadowlark in a large flock near the main office (levees right in front of the office) and decided to play the WEME song, at which point two popped up and gave me some interest. One was a clear eastern but the second, lighter one began calling (‘chert, chert’), which is supposed to be a diagnostic call for WEME that EAME doesn’t do, not the most spotted flanks but thinner barring on the tail with no dark center and with yellow that bleeds slightly into the malar from the throat; photos and audio of the call note; I suspect these are more common here in winter but get overlooked since they aren’t vocal and the ID is tough between EAME, possibly heard a second bird but leaving at a conservative one
