Détails de l'observation
Found this morning by Caleb Peterson and refound by us just after 1 pm (approx 1:04pm). We first heard it giving the occasional “chimp” call similar to a song sparrow. It then popped up a few times with its tail cocked bobbing left then right. It gave us some nice views as we watched it call. Small wren, similar to pacific but slightly paler especially in the throat region (shown in our photos). Light eyebrow, pale throat, and short tail. Would pop up for a short time and then go back down into the brush here: 34.50871° N, 118.61336° W. CD notes: First heard, then eventually seen a few times over several hours. Petite, dark warm brown wren with pale supercilium and pale throat (though not as pale as Winter Wren seen recently in Imperial; to me this individual seemed more warm brown vs. Imperial's cooler brown wren). Thin cocked tail, long slim bill. Mostly hidden low under bushes or stick piles. Update: Sonagram of "chimp" vocalization shows strongest emphasis in 3-5 kHz range. In photos, throat and body color seem comparable to Imperial wren.
