Détails de l'observation
6-8 Snipe in newly formed wetlands in back paddock. Called often with birds repeatedly calling in flight up to 5 times. Something I haven't experienced in Top End with previous Snipe encounters where they are largely silent when flushed or briefly call once. When flushed birds would either fly low and direct to land a relatively short distance away of rise up and fly high doing laps/circling before landing further away. The calls heard and recorded sound good for Swinhoe's and are provisionally identified as such. Calls of 2 different birds both calling 5 times in flight, calls towards the end of both recordings.
