Détails de l'observation
We were admiring a family of Golden Eagles rising in thermals over the house when a Vaux’s Swift flew into view mixed with a flock of VGs. Photos clearly show uniform lighter-toned body and more broad, swallow-like wing shape vs CHSW which can have a lighter-toned throat and wings are more narrow and swift-like. Post-list eBird research shows Vaux’s have been documented near Mexican Hat (60 miles SW) at 2 locations on Sept 23, 2016. And they’re regular in Fall beginning in central to SE AZ along with a recent citing in SW NM. So they’re around. CHSW have not been reported in this region during Fall.
