Recording time: 1531. Elevation (m): 2549. Habitat: high-altitude grassland . Weather: clear, sunny, very windy. Confidence in ID: 100%. ID determined by: seen well and studied closely; my narration: "I believe the pipits to be Hellmayr's Pipit on the basis of: the claw looks long in the photos enlarged; the face looks pale and without a moustachial; there are some streaks on the flanks; the bill looks long; and pale above. The books don't exactly agree on all those characters, and also the type of display seems to fit, which was short singing in a high circling flight." Matches XC 1610 from Brazil!; call resembles that of Anthus chii but bird is not yellowish; call does not resemble those of Anthus correndera on Bird Sounds from Southern South America, and was less heavily streaked below without white shoulder V; no calls of Anthus furcatus on Bird Sounds from Southern South America but song and morphology doesn't match this. Description of behavior: standing on rock, post, etc. Not shy .
