Détails de l'observation
Small storm-petrel - who knows how long the bird was sitting on the water right in front of me as I scanned through black terns. Eventually I looked up and noticed the bird sitting perhaps 100 ft directly in front of me. Chocolate brown throughout with paler brownish greater secondary coverts. Short, thick tubenose bill. White in rump and uppertail coverts extends into sides of undertail coverts. Over about a 45 minute period the bird floated from the west side of the reservoir to almost the eastern shore (AZ side). Only once I noticed it briefly raise it's wings. It appeared to pick at things on the water's surface, but never took flight. One pic showed raised wings, though my lighting settings were messed up at the time.
