Détails de l'observation
Overall gray breeding plumage, (after a little bit of study, I believe this bird is/has changed into more of a breeding plumage than non-breeding). Small, plump, short-legged sandpiper on rocks at waters edge at the fishing pier. Seen briefly on short flight with fairly strong wing stripe. Shorter bill then Dunlin but with an obvious droop at tip. A little surprised that this bird showed no yellow at base of bill, with legs that appeared mostly gray with just a bit of yellow. On a side note, I have been looking for this bird here for thirty some years. Sometime in the late 80's my wife and I were fortunate enough to see one at the same location in late fall or early winter. Not being aware that this was an unusual bird in Pennsylvania, I did not keep the date of that observation. Happy to say now I can finally add this bird to the Bucks County list.
