Détails de l'observation
A 2nd cycle medium gull species, appeared slightly smaller than nearby California gulls, probably about ring-billed sized although these were absent for direct comparison. Legs and feet yellow. Bright yellow bill with mostly black tip and red at the very tip/point of bill. Gray nape contrasting with white face. When I first noticed this bird in my scope I briefly thought it was a funky California Gull, but upon closer study the yellow color and shape long/narrow b with black/red color at the end eliminated that possibility. I shared photos of the bird online with a number of people including Mr. Amar Ayash who confirmed my suspicions that it was a black-tailed Gull. Photos obtained using iPhone 6s shooting through a Kowa spotting scope.
