The only thing I know for sure about this dowitcher is that it would loose any ass kicking contest it entered. Calling a Short-billed Dowitcher in fresh water away from its breeding and wintering grounds on June 3rd is retarded…..who better to do it :)! Note the spotting on the sides of breast and diagnostically spotting further down towards the belly. The tail white to black barring ratio seems good for sbd. I had the luxury of hearing it call. But my brain tells me to ease up a little on the crack as SBD’s aren’t supposed to occur in Solano right now……photos to follow. No white tips to scapulars and greater coverts.
