Détails de l'observation
Seen on pond nearest the Visitor Center (1P). Much smaller than Greater Yellowlegs which was on the same shoreline about 60' away. Larger and taller than a Spotted Sandpiper, slender in comparison. Legs were much darker than the Yellowlegs (difficult lighting, so my perception of leg color is questionable). Bill somewhat longer than the head, appeared to be black. Eye ring, I did not notice any streaking through or above the eye. Back & wings were dark brown with some spotting, shoulder not as dark as Sibley illustrates for a Solitary Sandpiper. Brown/buff neck to top of chest, white chest and belly. Feeding along shoreline shallows, similar to Yellowlegs, moving quickly, neck outstretched. Cropped digiscope photos added.
