This bird appears to meet the field mark requirements for abieticola: heavy belly band, not barred but spotted and streaked, dark brown with some blackish tones, “pinched” in the middle and expanding to the flanks; obvious rufous “dribbles” down the sides of the breast, a few less obvious, narrow dribbles down the center; although not clear in the photo or in the field the throat appears brown, like the rest of the head with a lateral white stripe; white body—I don’t see rufous hues so I believe this rules out Western; flight photo not great given the distance but tail barely shows a narrow black subterminal band. In 2020 McKenzie photographed a bird strikingly similar which he described as follows (ref eBird checklist S65701384): “…classic abieticola with white throat, rufous dribbling down side to dark belly band pinched in at the middle, dark subterminal band…”
