Parked in the reserve parking lot and spoke with a guardaparque to get permission to walk in the reserve after hours (technically closes at 7pm). They told us where to go to see the sickle-wings/atajacamino ala negra (the first curve on the park road, which was open for foot traffic only when we were there). Got incredible views of males perched in the two-track as it got dark, flew past our knees several times giving short call notes and longer rattle calls. Also heard a very low thump sound several times that was coming from the birds. Saw one male land several times and each time it spun 180° to perch on the ground, which to our eyes created a black blurred circle around the bird-- very cool.
