Détails de l'observation
The geese of our chase. Initially we had one in the NE section of the orchard in a tall cottonwood at about 0715, and again around 0815. On both occasions, the bird was going back and forth between the orchard and well to the east to the Mesquite groves. Around 8:45, we had four perched on mesquites along Alamo Road about 600 feet north of the large brown sign where Alamo Road meets Corn Creek Road. This is due east of the main Corn Creek station. Description: four medium-sized songbirds larger and plumper than nearby bluebirds. Rugby ball-shaped, with mostly light gray bodies. Rufous undertail coverts. Crested and dark-masked, with some orange to the foreheads. Called frequently “drrrreeeerrr”, with rolling r’s and lower-pitched than Cedar Waxwings.
