Détails de l'observation
This female Spruce Grouse narrowly avoided being taken by a Northern Goshawk as I was driving down the access road. I had only seen it briefly as the Goshawk swooped down on it so didn't realize it was a a Spruce Grouse at first. I continued down the road and drove past the spot where she had flown into the trees and parked my car just a bit further to get out and walk. As I was about to get out of the car, I noticed her walking back out onto the road in my rear view mirror and saw her sit down on the side of the road. I turned around and drove up very slowly to get these photos and then heard movement in the underbrush and spotted 3 chicks so I backed off to give them their space.
