Détails de l'observation
Medium-sized, long-legged shorebird first misidentified as a lesser yellowlegs; smaller than nearby black-necked stilts and wandering tattler, larger than foraging sanderlings; overall a much stockier/compact bird when compared to a lesser yellowlegs; bright white underparts; gray-brown upper body coloration with light white spots; grayish-brown breast; greenish-yellow legs (lesser yellowlegs would have brighter yellow legs); freezing video segments of the bird shows a very short primary projection (lesser yellowlegs would present a much longer primary projection); small, straight, dark bill slightly longer than head; broad, light-colored supercillium; uniform, light grayish-white underwings noted from video segment obtained (lack of uniformly dark underwings eliminates solitary sandpiper as the possible species); foraging behavior consisted of quick steps with active jabbing at the water’s surface; Also, the bird’s movement included a repeated bobbing motion consistent with the species; photo and video documentation obtained with good spotting scope views
