Détails de l'observation
Larry spotted this rarity today foraging on the ground and sometimes seeking safety in the cypress. This was in the corner of the old cemetery closest to the canon/flagpole. As you can see it was quite cooperative as I stood still and it foraged closer and closer to me. In the sunlight it was super bright and the faint dark auriculars and indistinct streaks on sides of breast were sometimes appearing washed out. I include 2 photos of it in shade and it almost looks like a different bird, but it is not. In the spread tail photo it shows the long white sides. Another PIWA was seen very recently but at El Estero in Monterey, not to be confused with this location. Previously documented in this county in 1993.
