Détails de l'observation
*Texas Review Species. *1st Kinney Co Record. *Rare inland. Swimming at northern end of main WTP pond opposite blind - flew no closer than 1/5 from back. White-headed phalarope with bold post-ocular spot and plain gray back. Bill stouter than WIPH or RNPH. White on forehead and top of head, black on hindcrown mainly visible from rear. Broad white stripe on wing. Back VERY plain. Bill appears to be no longer than head length and stout -certainly more stout than WIPH. Less experience with RNPH, but comparison to RNPH pix that I have shot on Pacific Pelagics, bill on this bird shorter than that species as well. Tried very hard to adequately document what I could see clearly in scope. My phone camera with cracks in lens cover makes it impossible to digiscope. Marla may have better. We both have shots with 600mm but at extreme range.
