Détails de l'observation
9 observations, but it seems probable that 2 of the birds observed had already been counted earlier in the night. First stop had 3 (visuals on two simultaneously, while a third was audible downslope), second stop had two simultaneous visuals (with one singing, recorded), third stop had two visuals (one singing, not recorded) but was too close to the second stop to be sure that they weren't the same birds. Fourth stop had 1 (visual, calling), fifth stop had 1 (visual, singing). The sixth stop of the evening, I briefly heard a bark quite similar to what most of the birds had been throughout the evening, but it was distant and may have been a different species. I have also cross referenced the pics taken throughout the night with images of birds seen earlier in the trip, noting that the pattern of white spots on the border of the facial disks were (apparently) unique for each bird. The following counts are assuming that each bird observed was a unique individual, which may not be the case, as I can't say whether owls observed at different spots had not been previously observed: Four were recorded, three were heard singing, 6 were photographed, and all 9 were heard otherwise vocalizing.
