Détails de l'observation
Adult and 1st-winter feeding on the shoreline with Egrets and Lapwings. Small Gull species with grey-coloured head and blood red-bill. Adult had sharp yellow eye colour, 1st-winter had dark eye, as well as ear covert spot. Mantle a shade of pale grey, breast white. Legs also blood red in colour. Striking pattern in the wings in flight. Primaries contained three different colours; A white wedge on the outer primaries comes down from the carpel. This is then cut off by the black in the outer primaries which wraps around the wingtip, only a small amount of black on the tip remains into the inner primaries. We were able to watch both birds for an extended period of time as they fed on the beach. Flight views were obtained due to the birds being flushed by a Caracara
